Heroes, season 4, has started off pretty rocky. Between getting owned by everything else on at that time slot and not starting off all that wonderfully plot wise, it might fall flat on its face. However, there are a few things that I did like that gives me hope for this season!
First, RAY PARK! Snake Eyes, Darth Maul, Toad, and now this knife wielding speedster; Ray Park being on Heroes was inevitable because he's deeply embedded in geekdom and it was only a matter of time before he dropped himself in the middle of Heroes. His martial arts are going to be terribly slow because I don't think any other cast member can keep up, but just seeing him was awesome.
Second, A TEAM OF BAD GUYS! I've been looking forward to this for a while now! The Heroes have always out numbered their foes, even when it was Mr. Petrelli running Pinehurst. Sure, he had his powered goons but it was ridiculously over powered. Now, there is a team collecting others with abilities and hopefully there will be a clash. Not only that, but they have some bad ass powers to boot! The ink guy in particular is awesome.
Third, PETER IS A SUPERHERO! Finally, god dammit, finally! Okay, so his power is to sponge, but whatever he does sponge, he's using it pretty damn decently to save lives. I don't like the news clippings, it makes him seem too full of himself (I would be too) but he's a step towards that saving lives deal instead of just powered people fighting each other and the government.
Fourth, NOAH IS SINGLE! The chapter is called Redemption and this should be Noah's chapter. He's lost everything he has valued, everything he was trying to protect. Sure, he still has his daughter, but even Claire's been distant since the second season. Now, he has to redeem himself. Noah's character has been my favorite, second to only Nathan, and now I think it's his time to shine.
Now that the good's out of the way, let's take a look at what is pissing me off.
First, Nathan/Sylar, WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! Nathan's dead. It's Sylar that's in there. We know, we get it, but Sylar in Matt's head is fairly retarded. He wiped Sylar, not absorbed him. Sure, it could be guilt, but this is Heroes, and nothing is that simple. As for Nathan, my favorite character is dead... now he's just a phony. Even if they make a Jekyl/Hyde type character, I don't think they will pull it off too well because Sylar doesn't have Nathan's personalities, just his memories. So even if you were in the same situation as someone else, your personality will dictate your actions so therefore, Nathan is all but gone -__-
Second, Claire's new friend, could it be anymore obvious that she has the same ability as Sylar does? "I just get things"... come on! This whole partnership with other powered people is lame. I really liked the first season where her friend who filmed her (the dude that played John Conner) was her ally. He was human, there needs to be more human/powered relationships!
Third, Hiro and Ando, WHATEVER THEY DO! Hiro and Ando are the comedic duo of the show, and not in a fun way either. Hiro is supposed to be the HERO! I don't care how often Peter is portrayed as the main protagonist, it's Hiro, HIRO, HIRO!!! Hiro is the destined savior of the world, but they give him such crappy roles. Ando needs to die already, affect Hiro, and make him all emo and lethal. I like Ando (a fellow Bronx Science Alumni), but he often shadows Hiro and that's a big no-no when the little guy is the titular character... sort of.
Fourth, Denko IS DEAD! No!!! That was one bad mother lover! He was human and he was maiming and killing the powered left and right. Sure, without funding, he's just a nutjob... just like before, but he was so bad assed! Why did they have to kill him? He was the guy that you loved to hate because he was that good! Now he's dead

He needs to be revived somehow or at least replaced by an equally ass hole like character.
Fifth, the Ink Guy. I like him but he is manipulative and has his own cause... a bit too much like Magneto and every other villain out there. Sure, we don't know that he's just plain crazy or not just yet, but Sylar was awesome because he was ape shit insane! Killed his own mom and went oops. Cut open Claire's head!!! Even momentarily killed Peter. Because he's FUCKING CRAZY AND JUST WANTS TO DO HIS OWN SHIT AND SURVIVE. Now we have this dude with a cause... Denko had a cause, and he was still terrific. This dude, I don't think will be that great of a villain.
My reasons all suck, good and bad, but hey... just ranting about a show I really enjoyed during the first season and keep hoping it gets better only to be disappointed later -__-
Heroes needs to borrow from comics the good stuff, the meat and potatoes, and put their own spin to it. So far, they've only borrowed the overly done cliched crap with their own crappy spin to it. GET TO WORK KRING, I HAVE FAITH IN YOU!
